Rained out
The Rockpile sheepherders event happened in the wind and rain for most of the day, so sadly I could not attend. The past 2 years, the day of this event was amazingly beautiful sunny days, and I was looking forward to attending. But I had trunk shows planned and could not afford to have product that was waterlogged. I was so sad that missed my opportunity to meet Erin Turbitt of Copper Crow Fiber Co. in person. Perhaps she will be at the Glenrock Sheepherders Rendezvous in August. I am Thriends with her and when she lamented about the logistics of shows, value of doing them and equipment needs, I reached out to her with advice and encouragement as well as other events that are useful to attend, ones that I plan to attend again this year.
This led to a long back and forth conversation about what Erin is planning for her business, a Wyoming focused mercantile with nature inspired, handmade local Wyoming artists. Oh Joy! I love everything about this. I often feels like I’m talking into a echo chamber at times, so it was amazing to talk to a real person with the same thoughts about colors and inspirations. She has seen my work while in Gillette at Swanky Mountain, then she placed a large order which will introduce my work to a new market. I could not be more excited to work with Erin as she builds something new for her area of the state. She had very specific ideas of what colors she wanted for this first order and how she sees the future of her business as it grows. Yarn was ordered and work will commence as soon as it arrives. I am so excited!!
Planned events
Glenrock Sheepherders Rendezvous on August 23rd in Glenrock WY, and the Fremont Fiber Festival on September 26th in Riverton WY, both have been great events for me last year.
