Good Times
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to vend at the Glenrock Sheepherders Rendezvous for the very first time. Scott accompanied me and helped manage my booth throughout the event. We encountered one minor challenge when the wind tried to send our canopy on an unintended journey, which required us to quickly adapt the supports to keep everything secure. Despite that, we had a fantastic time overall! There were plenty of sales, and my fiber proved to be especially popular among the spinners. I also sold some yarn and dyes, which was exciting. Additionally, I made several valuable connections with others in the fiber community. These connections have already led to me acquiring some beautiful yak fiber, along with stunning white and grey Gotland/BFL locks. There’s even the potential for a dye day at the local mill, where I’ll have the chance to demonstrate some innovative new dyeing techniques.
The organizers did an absolutely amazing job and provided exceptional care for the vendors throughout the entire event. They made frequent check-ins to see how we were doing and even served vendors a delicious supper every night. The animals on display included Alpacas, Yaks, and, of course, plenty of sheep. There was mutton busting for the little ones, with a young girl winning the buckle, as well as exciting sheepdog trials, live music playing all weekend long, and many more fascinating sheep wagons than ever before this year. I will definitely be going back next year and wholeheartedly encouraging everyone to join us for what promises to be another fantastic weekend.
